Shopify or direct
Shopify or direct
ProdBord works the same either way: the same board, stages, calendar and Etsy connection. The difference is how you sign in, how you pay, and whether Shopify orders can come in.
What’s different
| Through Shopify | Directly | |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify orders | Yes | No |
| Etsy orders | Yes, brought in with Import latest Etsy orders | Yes, arriving automatically |
| Jobs you add yourself | Yes | Yes |
| Automation rules and product defaults | Yes | No |
| Sign in | Through your Shopify admin | Email and password, passkeys, optional two-step verification |
| Billing | On your Shopify bill | By card through Stripe |
Shopify requires apps that read Shopify orders to bill through Shopify, which is why Shopify orders are only available through Shopify.
Moving a direct workspace into Shopify
If you started directly and now sell on Shopify, you can move your workspace into your Shopify store. It’s the same workspace afterwards, opened from Shopify.
What moves with it
Everything: boards and stages, jobs and their history, due dates, and your Etsy connection with the orders already imported from it.
How to move
- In ProdBord, open Settings and, under Workspace, start the move to Shopify. You’ll be asked to confirm it’s you.
- In the Shopify store you want to use, add ProdBord and open it from your Shopify admin. ProdBord recognises the move and shows the store it will move into.
- Check the store name, then give your final confirmation.
- In ProdBord in Shopify, turn on automatic Shopify order import when you’re ready.
What happens to your subscription
Nothing changes until your final confirmation. At that moment your direct subscription ends straight away, with no refund for time already paid. From then on you pay through your Shopify bill on ProdBord’s Shopify plan, and Shopify’s usual free trial may apply.
Time limits
- Once you start a move, you have 24 hours to open ProdBord in your Shopify store.
- When ProdBord in Shopify links to your move, you have a fresh 24 hours to give your final confirmation.
- If a step times out, start again. Your workspace and its jobs aren’t affected.
Things to know
- Shopify orders aren’t imported straight away. Automatic import stays off until you turn it on, so old orders don’t flood your intake.
- Etsy stays connected, with the orders already imported. Through Shopify, new Etsy orders are brought in with Import latest Etsy orders rather than arriving automatically.
- Two workspaces are never merged. If ProdBord in that store already has orders, jobs or settings, the move stops before anything changes. A store where ProdBord was only just installed is fine.
- Only the workspace owner can move it, and the workspace must have just one member.
- Afterwards, open ProdBord from the Apps section of your Shopify admin. Signing in to your direct account shows where your workspace went. You can keep that account or delete it in Settings; doing so doesn’t affect ProdBord in Shopify.
- Moving from Shopify to direct isn’t available.
