Common questions
Short answers. Each links to the full guide where there’s more to say.
Who is ProdBord for?
Small businesses that make what they sell, usually by hand and to order: woodworkers, jewellers, candle makers, sign makers, printers and anyone else who needs to know what to make next and where each order is up to.
Do I need Shopify?
No. You can use ProdBord directly with Etsy orders, jobs you add by hand, or both. You need to use it through Shopify only if you want Shopify orders on the board. See Shopify or direct.
Can I use it without Shopify or Etsy at all?
Yes. Add every job by hand with Add job. Everything else works the same: stages, due dates, the calendar, capacity and bottleneck warnings.
Does ProdBord change anything in my Shopify store or Etsy shop?
No. It reads orders and never changes orders, fulfilments, payments or customers. Completing a job in ProdBord doesn’t fulfil the order. You still do that in Shopify or Etsy.
Do new orders go straight onto the board?
Not unless you want them to. New Shopify and Etsy orders wait in Order intake until you add them. Through Shopify, you can set rules that add matching orders automatically.
How quickly do Etsy orders appear?
With a direct account, new paid Etsy orders arrive automatically. Through Shopify, choose Import latest Etsy orders in Sales channels to bring in your 25 most recent paid orders. Either way, that button fetches the latest straight away.
What does “Capacity 6/4” mean?
The stage has 6 jobs in it and can handle 4 at once. Because it’s over capacity, it’s marked as a bottleneck. You set each stage’s capacity in Workflow. See Capacity and target times.
What does “Late” mean on a job?
The job has been in its current stage longer than that stage’s target time. It’s about time in the stage, not the due date. A job past its due date shows as Overdue.
Does ProdBord move jobs for me?
No. You move jobs between stages. Bottleneck and late warnings tell you where to look but never move or block anything.
Can I change my stages after I’ve started?
Yes. Rename, add and reorder stages at any time in Workflow, and delete a stage once it’s empty. Applying a whole template needs a board with no active jobs.
Can I have more than one board?
Yes. Create a board for each product line or way of working in Boards. Each has its own stages.
How long are completed jobs kept?
30 days after you mark them completed, then they’re deleted from ProdBord. The original Shopify or Etsy order isn’t affected. Removed jobs are kept for 30 days too, and can be restored in that time.
Can my staff use it?
A direct workspace has one owner at the moment, and inviting other people isn’t available yet. For a shared screen in the workshop, use Display mode.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Directly, your first subscription starts with a free trial, and the length is shown before you add your card. Through Shopify, Shopify shows any trial when you approve the charge.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Directly, choose Leave in Settings and you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Through Shopify, uninstall the app. There are no refunds for time already paid. See Account, billing and leaving.
I started directly and now use Shopify. Do I have to start again?
No. Move your workspace into Shopify and keep your boards, jobs, dates and Etsy connection. See Moving a direct workspace into Shopify.
Does ProdBord use AI?
No. Late jobs and bottlenecks are worked out from the target times and capacities you set, and rules do only what their conditions say.
Where is my data stored?
ProdBord’s database is hosted in the UK. See the privacy policy for what we collect and who we share it with.
